Behind that pageant dress is a fighter. Following a bilateral hip dysplasia diagnosis, Ariel’s family turned to Dr. Tim Schrader, an orthopedic surgeon at Children's, for surgery and care.

Even though 4-year-old Ariel was placed in a hip spica casts on both hips during recovery, she never let it get her down. She started doing pageants using a walker to move across the stage.

Six years following her diagnosis, Ariel still loves performing in pageant shows. But her real dream is becoming an orthopedic surgeon when she grows up—just like Dr. Schrader.
