Emma has been a swimmer all her life. Two weeks before her big state meet, she was jumping on the trampoline and landed on her arm wrong. Emma had torn all the ligaments in her right arm and broke her humerus bone.Emma immediately underwent surgery and one day later, was back to the pool to cheer on her team. When Emma’s cast came off and she started wearing a hinged brace, her family turned to Children’s for physical therapy with Skippy Matson, a Children’s physical therapist. Working alongside Emma's coach, Skippy had Emma back in the pool after just a few short months.
Emma's advice to other athletes? Keep your head in the game and stay determined, despite any challenges that come your way.
